The Tutorial is a set of photos, describing the process of knotting of Edelweiss flower. There is no instruction to assembling the elements into final piece of ornament. There is no instruction to individual knots (you can find them at the “school” section). The knots used in this tutorial are: Horisontal HH, the wrapping technique. The technique used in this tutorial is also described in the “Cornflower earrnings” tutorial and the “Butterfly” tutorial.

Cut the threads for the project approx 100 cm (40 in) long. This technique allows simple adding/removing of the cords. Some photos are accompanied by verbal explanatlions.

The difficulty is average. The tutorial is aimed at experienced knotters or very enthusiastic beginners.

Add wrapping knots to your liking
The length is about 3cm (1.2 in)
For the sharp end of the petal: on the anchor cord make HHH with the first working cord only. Take the second working cord as a new AC
Add wrapping knots to match the length of the first bar.
With the last cord from the bundle make a HHH on both cords left unknotted from the first bar (photo above)

Make wrapping knots to the end of the large petal.
The cords of the narrow petal are not used in furher knotting
Add wrapping knots
Add new cords instead of those used for knotting of the narrow petal. Make sure to knot the new petal of the same length.
Make five sets of the large and narrow petals.
For the small petal use half of the cords to make a bundle.
Make HHH with the rest of the cords on the bundle. Do not add these cords to the bundle.
Add some wrapping knots.
For the sharp end of the petal: on the anchor cord make HHH with the first working cord.
Use the second working cord as a new AC.
Remember not to add extra cords to the bundle.
The cords of the narrow petal are not used in further knotting. Do not forget to add new cords instead of them when making next small petal. (Same as with the large petal).
Make five sets of small and narrow petals.
You have cords left on the side of the last small petal
thread them with a needle through the first row of the first small petal.
Pull the cords tightly to make a circle of five small petals. Put the cords of the narrow petals in the center of the circle.

Make a row of HHH to fix the cords.
Use one of the cords to connect the fist and the last large petals
Make several stitches through the first and the last rows of the large petals. Pull the petals together and fix the cord.
Embroider the center of the flower with a thread or beads.
